Plan piloto sumará siete tiendas en que se reduce el espacio de exhibición y venta directa, para así impulsar los productos comprados a distancia y que deben enviarse al cliente en un plazo de 90 minutos

Que los propios vendedores de una multitienda salgan a repartir productos, ya sea durante el trayecto de ida o de vuelta hacia sus casas. Esta es una de las ideas más llamativas que llegaron al Bootcamp Unicorn Challenge, organizado por Ripley, en alianza con la aceleradora Magical Startups.
La convocatoria –a la que se presentaron más de 100 ideas- busca encontrar nuevas soluciones para probar en pilotos reales de retail y la banca. Del total, 20 emprendimientos -muchos de ellos del ámbito de la logística y de la última milla- fueron seleccionados.
Cencosud y Ripley preparan respuesta a Falabella tras su acuerdo con Google
“Creemos que ellos pueden probar sus conceptos en nuestras tiendas con nuestros clientes. Si funciona, bien por ellos y también por nosotros, porque enriquecemos la experiencia de compra a nuestros clientes”, destaca Francisco Irarrázaval, gerente general del área Retail de Ripley.
¿La compañía va a invertir en estas empresas?
Hay varias posibles asociaciones: desde ser un cliente más de estas empresas hasta ser socios a nivel de patrimonio. Aún no está definido, pero sí, en caso de haber una potencialidad de negocio que creamos sea a nivel de industria y más allá de nuestras murallas, está la posibilidad de buscar una asociación patrimonial.
¿Buscan tener su propio Cornershop?
Ya lo hacemos. Nosotros tenemos muchas tiendas desde donde salimos al domicilio del cliente. Ahora, para la operación de la última milla, ya sea a través de Motoboy, Rappi, Glovo o cualquiera, nos interesan empresas que operen para nosotros, no que sea una operación para el cliente como es Cornershop.Nos interesa que se compre en Ripley y no en una aplicación; nosotros despachamos el producto con un tercero y que esté en 90 minutos en la casa del comprador.
El ‘Cornershop interno’, si se quiere ver así, son nuestros vendedores de la tienda, quienes van, toman los productos, los empacan y se los entregan a una persona que va en una moto a dejarlos a una casa.
¿Hoy ya despachan con el compromiso de 90 minutos en la casa del comprador?
Lo estamos haciendo. Durante este mes se sumarán a este plan piloto seis tiendas más, además de Costanera Center, donde ya está funcionando. Próximamente este plan se expandirá a otras comunas y regiones.
¿La idea es ampliar esta fórmula a todos los locales?
Sí, a todos los locales Ripley.
¿Con eso consideran que ya tienen solucionado el tema de la última milla?
Yo creo que esa es la plataforma que podemos construir, porque es usar tu mercadería que está distribuida en las tiendas para llegar muy rápido al cliente. Nuestro foco tiene que ver con utilizar nuestra red de 75 tiendas en Chile y Perú, que nos permiten llegar en menos de 90 minutos al 80% de la población. Para eso hay que ser capaz de hacer de cada tienda un pequeño centro de distribución, un centro de despacho de mercadería, por lo menos.
¿Esto significa reducir el área de venta y exhibición?
Nuestra estrategia para atender la demanda del consumidor en el contexto del e-commerce tiene que ver con usar la tienda como un centro de despacho para poder atender las expectativas de que las cosas lleguen rápido. Entonces, la tienda tiene que transformarse a nivel de procesos y también a nivel de espacio, porque estos verdaderos hub de despacho claramente van creciendo. La tienda tiene una transformación física no de gran escala, por ahora, pero sí la tiene.
¿El canal internet ha hecho mucho más exigentes a los consumidores?
El consumidor hoy en día está buscando ya sea productos muy extraordinarios -donde en las categorías de electro competimos todos más o menos igual-, o está buscando productos en el mundo vestuario. Ahí hay que diferenciarse con la marca propia y eso es lo que estamos haciendo nosotros. Buscamos manejar eso como una propuesta única de nuestro sitio. Lo otro que busca el consumidor es el servicio: que le llegue bien y rápido a su casa.
Menos liquidaciones: ajustes de stock ante menores ventas
Un complejo inicio de año evidenciaron las principales multitiendas del país producto de un consumo interno débil, acentuado por la menor compra de turistas extranjeros, principalmente argentinos. Las empresas vivieron una temporada veraniega donde se quedaron muy pasados de stock, por lo que la opción fue realizar castigos entre enero y marzo. Esto se tradujo en muchas liquidaciones, lo que hizo bajar los márgenes.
A juicio de Francisco Irarrázaval, gerente general del área Retail de Ripley, esto comenzará a cambiar a partir de la segunda mitad del año.
“La mayoría de las tiendas por departamento en el país ya han ajustado un poco su volumen de compra a esta nueva realidad de consumo, por tanto, esperaría que esta tendencia empiece a ir desapareciendo hacia el segundo semestre de este año y de frentón el año siguiente”, sostuvo.
El ejecutivo destacó que el tema más relevante fue la velocidad en que los argentinos dejaron de venir a comprar a Chile. “Fue más rápido de lo que nos hubiera gustado y, además, hay una actividad económica más floja de la que a todos nos gustaría”, sostuvo.
