Liwe Española retoma su ofensiva internacional diez años después: entra en Grecia
Liwe Española planta una nueva pica en el extranjero. Diez años después de aterrizar en Italia, el último mercado internacional en el que había entrado, la matriz de Inside ultima ahora su desembarco en Grecia. La empresa contempla su primera apertura en el país para este año o principios de próximo, y gestionará su desarrollo directamente desde España.
El grupo, con sede en Puente Tocinos (Murcia), llevaba tiempo tanteando la entrada en este nuevo mercado. “Los hábitos de consumo son similares a los españoles, estamos cerca culturalmente y ahora, dejados atrás los años más difíciles, es un buen momento para entrar”, apunta José Ángel Pardo, director general de Liwe Española, a Modaes.es.
La primera tienda de Inside se encontrará en una calle comercial de Atenas, desde donde se expandirá al resto del país. En paralelo, el grupo prosigue su plan de crecimiento en los mercados en los que ya está presente, y prevé cerrar el ejercicio con 35 nuevas aperturas en España, Italia y Portugal. Parte de los nuevos establecimientos se enmarca dentro del plan de mejora de la red, por el que se han trasladado tiendas a ubicaciones mejores y locales más amplios.

Liwe, que cotiza en bolsa y está controlada por la familia Pardo, ha llevado a cabo su expansión con cautela. A lo largo de la década de los noventa y primeros dosmil, el grupo centró sus esfuerzos en la transformación de su modelo de negocio: de vender a mayoristas a convertirse en cadena de moda, y de fabricante a distribuidor.
En 2007, tres años después de abrir la primera tienda de Inside, la empresa subió la persiana de su primer establecimiento en el extranjero, ubicado en Portugal. Un año después, ya en plena crisis, el grupo aterrizó en Italia, donde operaba hasta el año pasado de la mano del grupo de grandes almacenes Coin.
En la actualidad, Liwe suma 390 puntos de venta en España, de los cuales el 87% son tiendas y el resto, corners en El Corte Inglés. En Portugal, la empresa cuenta con 25 establecimientos, y en Italia, con 36, después de bajar la persiana de los tres corners que tenía en Coin.
Liwe cerró 2017 con una facturación de 155,36 millones de euros, un 4,36% más, y un resultado neto de 14,9 millones de euros, lo que supuso un avance del 6,61% respecto al año anterior.
El mercado local continúa copando el grueso de las ventas de Liwe, con 134,36 millones de euros el año pasado, lo que representa el 86,5% de la facturación total de la empresa en 2017. Italia, por su parte, ha ganado terreno a pasos agigantados en los últimos años, hasta situarse como el segundo país para el grupo.
