Una década complicada para República Dominicana fue aquella de los años 60 del pasado siglo. Marcada por una serie de acontecimientos que dejarían profundas huellas en nuestra historia; así, sólo por dar un par de puntadas en el complicado tapete de la historia, resaltan el ajusticiamiento al tirano en mayo del 61, la invasión estadounidense y el ataque de las Fuerzas Armadas realizadas en el Hotel Matún de Santiago, donde las fuerzas constitucionalistas lideradas por el coronel Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deñó, sufrieron importantes bajas, todo esto en el 65.
Pero está también fue una década marcada por la euforia y el patriotismo efervescentes en el pecho de todos y por el nacimiento de importantes firmas y negocios que hasta la actualidad perviven.
En ese contexto, donde parecía construirse una nueva historia y un nuevo tiempo, fue fundado el Típico Bonao por un visionario hombre de negocios llamado Francisco Antonio Batista en 1962.
La que inicialmente le motivó fue edificar un punto de referencia y parada obligatoria en la ruta más transitada que permitía la comunicación entre la productiva y fértil región del Cibao, con la Capital y el resto del país.
La carretera del Cibao, hoy autopista Duarte, es sin lugar a dudas, la más transitada de toda República Dominicana; por ello, no es de extrañar que a lo largo y ancho de esta autopista se encuentren en la actualidad, cual perlas de un collar, una amplia oferta de restaurantes y comedores para los viajeros, pero desde 1962 el Típico Bonao ha mantenido la primacía al ofrecer un concepto moderno y gourmet para que los viajeros degusten y repongan energía.
