Carolina Mejía se convirtió este viernes en la primera mujer que asume las riendas de la Alcaldía del Distrito Nacional, teniendo el reto de guiar a la ciudad Primada de América.
Mejía asumió en medio de estrictas medidas de seguridad y distanciamiento físico por la incidencia del COVID-19 en el país . La dirigente y alcaldesa del PRM estuvo acompañada del saliente titular del cabildo, David Collado, así como de los regidores y regidoras que resultaron ganadores en las pasadas elecciones.
¨Como mujer tengo el compromiso de representar con dignidad y respeto a mi género¨, dijo en la ceremonia .
Dentro de sus retos citó al COVID-19 como principal y manifestó que hay que seguir luchando en estos momentos con responsabilidad, al igual que garantizó mantener los servicios durante su gestión municipal .Prometió mantener la transparencia y afirmó que trabajará para mantener la seguridad.
«Responsable como he sido en todos los actos de mi vida, estaré al frente del personal municipal para asegurar el buen funcionamiento de todos los servicios básicos, cuidar la seguridad ciudadana y actuar solidariamente con los más vulnerables», subrayó.
Indicó que seguirá trabajando por una cuidad cada vez más solidaria y humana y comprometió a desarrollar un programa contra la violencia de género.
«Continuaremos fortaleciendo la formación de Policías Municipales, para que la ciudadanía cuente con una policía municipal cercana, sensible a la violencia de género y la seguridad ciudadana. De igual forma, implementaremos el programa de apoyo a mujeres víctimas de violencia de género», enfatizó.
Desde la Alcaldía estará al frente del personal municipal para asegurar “el buen funcionamiento de todos los servicios básicos, cuidar la seguridad ciudadana y actuar solidariamente con los más vulnerables”.
Continuará el proyecto ¨Un Santo Domingo más ordenado¨, Plan Estratégico 2030 diseñado por la gestión del alcalde David Collado con el apoyo de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo.
También fueron juramentados el vice alcalde y los regidores que van a componer el Consejo Municipal.
