México: Walmart consigue hacer más sustentables y efectivas sus operaciones
En un entorno cada vez más digital y tecnológico, es indispensable para las empresas adaptarse al nuevo comportamiento de compra que tienen los consumidores y a nuevas acciones que aseguren reducir el impacto ambiental en sus operaciones.
Walmart de México y Centroamérica apuesta por mejorar la experiencia omnicanal, a través de distintas estrategias como: Reforzar su liderazgo en precios, mejorar la oferta de perecederos, lanzar con éxito quioscos con catálogo extendido y pickup en tiendas y clubes, rediseñar sus sitios web, crear nuevas aplicaciones móviles y hacer más eficiente su servicio de entrega.
Este plan de acción tiene como objetivo, brindar las facilidades para que los clientes cuenten con el producto de su elección en el momento y lugar de su preferencia.
Durante 2018, la cadena de autoservicios remodeló tiendas en todo México con el fin de adaptarlas a esta nueva era. Prueba de ello, es la apertura del primer Walmart 100% omnicanal, Walmart Portal Tlalnepantla (Mario Colín), el cual cuenta con pickup, catálogo digital, báscula digital y auto escaneo; la inauguración de Superama Centtral Interlomas, el primero con funcionalidad de auto cobro y casilleros inteligentes, además de contar con directorio touch, báscula digital y click & collect, bodega en 1 click, con la apertura de 302 quioscos y el lanzamiento de la aplicación móvil Walmart Cashi más que efectivo, que permite acceder a compras en línea y pagos de servicio sin tarjeta de crédito o débito.
En un esfuerzo por hacer más sustentables sus operaciones, durante el 2018 la cadena de autoservicio generó acciones para mitigar el cambio climático, logrando así que el 84% de las tiendas sean suministradas con energía renovable y el 70% de los desechos sean reciclados o reutilizados. De esta forma, las prioridades de la empresa para el 2025 son: reducir 25% la intensidad energética, impulsar una economía circular generando cero residuos en todas las tiendas y clubes y procurar el abastecimiento de fuentes sustentables, comercializando 2,757 productos con menor impacto ambiental, de acuerdo con el Informe Financiero y de Responsabilidad Corporativa 2018.
La apuesta por el talento
En este contexto, el bienestar de los asociados de Walmart es una de sus prioridades, por lo que buscan innovar implementando iniciativas que ayuden a construir un ambiente de trabajo saludable, colaborativo y flexible.
Tan solo en 2018 las aperturas generaron 4,148 nuevos empleos, logrando así 11.6 millones de horas de capacitación y gracias a ello, 22,996 asociados fueron promovidos. Por segundo año consecutivo, la empresa se integró en el Índice Bloomberg de Equidad de Género, promoviendo un ambiente de respeto diverso e incluyente, contando con el 52% de mujeres para su fuerza de trabajo y 1,539 asociados con discapacidad, 184% más que en 2017.
Y, finalmente, gracias a una buena logística durante el 2018, la empresa trasladó más de 1,200 millones de cajas, realizó 963 mil viajes a lo largo de la República Mexicana, además de comenzar con la construcción del nuevo CEDIS Villahermosa y la inauguración de 134 tiendas, siendo reconocida con el Premio Nacional de Logística “Galardón Tameme 2018”.
