GLS apuntala su estructura en España. La compañía de paquetería y transporte urgente ha puesto en marcha un nuevo hub internacional en la localidad de Santa Perpètua de Mogoda (Barcelona), en el que duplica la capacidad máxima.
El pasado noviembre, la empresa ya puso en funcionamiento un hub nacional en Ribarroja (Valencia), donde ha incrementado la capacidad un 70%. Tanto en Barcelona como en Valencia, GLS se ha trasladado a un nuevo hub para prepararse para un mayor crecimiento en los volúmenes de paquetes. Con este cambio la capacidad máxima de la empresa en la comarca del Vallès Oriental se ha duplicado y en Ribarroja ha aumentado un 70%.
En Santa Perpètua de Mogoda, GLS ha unificado las operaciones de un hub internacional y una delegación agregada con las de un hub regional. La nave del nuevo centro internacional cuenta con una superficie de alrededor 9.000 metros cuadrados. La cinta clasificadora se ha ampliado, de modo que inicialmente se pueden procesar hasta 8.000 paquetes por hora.

También se ha aumentado a 32 el número de muelles para la carga y descarga de camiones de transporte de larga distancia y a 78 las de furgonetas de reparto. Además, el nuevo hub se encuentra a tan solo cincuenta metros del antiguo centro internacional en la región del Vallès, lo que supone una ventaja estratégica para las conexiones con la red europea de GLS y las agencias de la región.
En Ribarroja, GLS unificó una delegación y el hub de la región de Levante en una sola instalación. La nave del nuevo hub regional cuenta con una superficie de más de 5.700 metros cuadrados, superando los cerca de 3.000 metros cuadrados de la instalación anterior.
