Airbnb destinará más de 25 millones para beneficiar a anfitriones afectados por COVID-19

El COVID-19  ha puesto de cabeza al mundo. Las empresas buscan soluciones para paliar esta crisis sanitaria que aún no ve la luz. La empresa Airbnb beneficiará a los anfitriones de todo el mundo que se afectaron tras decidirse que los viajeros cancelaran y recibieran un reembolso total si lo hacen por causas relacionadas con el coronavirus.

Aquellos anfitriones que tengas cancelaciones, en dependencia de su política de cancelación, recibirán una abonación de Airbnb del 25 por ciento del importe que habrían recibido, explicó en un comunicado Brian Chesky, director ejecutivo de la empresa.

La iniciativa se lleva a cabo con un fondo de 25 millones de dólares y servirá para sustentas las cancelaciones que se vean afectadas entre el 14 de marzo y el 31 de mayo.

Esta medida se aplica de forma retroactiva a todas las cancelaciones de las reservas incluidas en ese periodo que estén relacionadas con el COVID-19, Airbnb cubrirá estos importes íntegramente y empezará a abonarlos en abril, señalan.

También se creará un fondo de 10 millones de dólares para ayudar a los Superhost (anfitriones que destacan en la atención a sus clientes). El objetivo será ofrecerles una ayuda para pagar el alquiler o la hipoteca, así como impulsar a aquellos que necesitan seguir adelante.

Comentó Chesky que para reunir esa cantidad de dinero los empleados pusieron en marcha un plan y lograron reunirlo de forma voluntaria. «A partir de abril, los anfitriones podréis solicitar subvenciones por un importe máximo de 5000 dólares que no tendréis que devolver», dijo.

Los propietarios de Airbnb también permitirán a partir de abril que los anfitriones puedan recibir algún donativo de aquellos huéspedes que tuvieron en sus viviendas antes de la crisis sanitaria internacional. Para ello, podrán enviar una nota y el donativo. «Sabemos que en medio de esta situación tan difícil cada granito de arena cuenta», confesó Brian Chesky.

La última medida del paquete es exclusiva para los anfitriones de Estados Unidos. El Gobierno de ese país los incluyó en su programa de incentivos económicos relativo al COVID-19, por tanto podrán solicitar muchas de las ayudas económicas recogidas en esta ley, incluidos préstamos y subvenciones para PYMES y subsidios de desempleo.
