Apple aumenta ventas de relojes inteligentes y lidera mercado

Apple Inc. nuevamente atrajo una participación mayoritaria en el mercado de los relojes inteligentes en el primer trimestre, cuando el brote de COVID-19 alentó el seguimiento de las condiciones de salud y generó un aumento de 20% en las ventas.

Las ventas mundiales de relojes inteligentes alcanzaron las 13,7 millones de unidades en los primeros tres meses de este año, desafiando una caída mundial en los ámbitos de la electrónica de consumo, como los teléfonos móviles. La participación de Apple subió un punto porcentual a 55,5%, según Strategy Analytics.

El Apple Watch es visto como uno de los principales motores de crecimiento para la compañía estadounidense, que ha dejado de detallar las ventas trimestrales de iPhone a medida que madura el mercado de teléfonos inteligentes. Compal Electronics Inc. y Quanta Computer Inc. son los socios de montaje del gigante de Cupertino, California, para el dispositivo portátil, según Jeff Pu, analista de GF Securities.

Strategy Analytics señala que Apple logró su mayor participación de mercado en dos años, con 7,6 millones de unidades. Samsung Electronics Co. fue segundo con 1,9 millones y Garmin Ltd., el tercero con 1,1 millones.

“Esperamos que las ventas mundiales de relojes inteligentes se desaceleren bruscamente en el segundo trimestre de 2020, debido a la actual pandemia de COVID-19”, dijo Woody Oh, director de Strategy Analytics. “Sin embargo, desde la segunda mitad de este año verá un repunte moderado, a medida que los consumidores de todo el mundo recuperen la confianza y se reabran más tiendas minoristas”.
