Arcadia busca oxígeno: negocia un préstamo de 57 millones
Arcadia pide oxígeno. El grupo británico, dueño de Topshop, negocia un préstamo de hasta cincuenta millones de libras (57 millones de euros) para paliar el impacto de la crisis del coronavirus en su negocio, según Sky News.
La empresa avalaría este préstamo con el centro logístico que abrió el año pasado en el condado de Northamptonshire. Actualmente, las 550 tiendas del grupo en Reino Unido, su principal mercado, permanecen cerradas.
Arcadia también ha anunciado que suspenderá a 14.500 de sus 16.000 empleados y que todo el equipo directivo asumirá recortes en su compensación de entre el 25% y el 50%. El consejero delegado, Ian Grabiner, no recibirá su salario ni otros beneficios hasta nuevo aviso.
La empresa, propiedad de Philip Green, entró en pérdidas en el ejercicio 2018, con un resultado operativo negativo de 137,6 millones de libras (156 millones de euros), según las últimas cuentas depositadas en el Registro Mercantil británico. La facturación se redujo un 4,5%, hasta 1.800 millones de libras (205 millones de euros).
