Éxito Wow ofrece un modelo de servicio para el comprador al que le gusta ir a la tienda física o uno que está más cercano a la virtualidad y la rapidez, de la mano con la tecnología.

Un año y medio fue el tiempo que se tomó el Grupo Éxito para hacer la apuesta de renovación de sus almacenes acorde con las nuevas dinámicas del mercado. El Éxito se adelantó a la apertura de Viva Envigado (que se abre el 5 de octubre) para lanzar el nuevo concepto “Wow”, que implicó una inversión de 7 mil millones de pesos (ver Radiografía).

La apuesta no sólo se quedará en esta sede, sino llegará a Bogotá en noviembre, al Éxito Country, ubicado en la 134 con novena y a otros cinco almacenes en 2019.

La conectividad es el aspecto clave, pues tendrá un espacio de coworking (con adecuaciones para trabajar y conectarse a la corriente), lugares especializados para cargar celulares mientras hace mercado, wifi gratis en la tienda, y aplicaciones que le permitirán guardar su turno de caja para evitarse filas.

“Wow es un formato más, que hace parte de la omnicanalidad (experiencia física y virtual, a través de la tienda por internet, el celular, la aplicación, entre otros). Los supermercados, en general, se están moviendo a cercanía y conveniencia. Pero, dentro del formato que sea, el movimiento es a conectar al shopper”, explicó Luis Fernando Aguirre, director Cámara de Proveedores y Canales de Distribución de la Asociación Nacional de Empresarios de Colombia (Andi). Este es el único formato de este tipo en Colombia, “es nuevo e innovador” confirmó Aguirre, quien referenció a Fresh Market y Wholefoods en Estados Unidos como buenos ejemplos de “experiencia de compra” (ver Claves).

EL COLOMBIANO habló con Jorge Jaller, gerente corporativo de la marca Éxito, quien lidera el proyecto.

¿De dónde nace el concepto del Éxito Wow?

“Es muy importante entregarle a Colombia la nueva generación de hipermercados del futuro. Juntamos lo mejor del mundo físico, con lo mejor del virtual, en una sola experiencia con la cual queremos que nuestros clientes disfruten de una oferta omnicanal llena de sorpresas, servicio superior y calidad inigualable. Tendrás la oferta del mundo físico, con la del virtual”.

¿En qué se enfoca esta versión de hipermercados?

“En productos frescos, restaurantes y una oportunidad inmensa de degustación, de frescura y calidad. Refuerza la propuesta de mundo saludable. El 98 % de los productos que se venden frescos se compran directamente a cerca de 670 agricultores nacionales”.

¿Cuál fue la inversión en el Éxito de Envigado?

“Fue de 7 mil millones de pesos”.

¿Cómo se va a dar el plan de expansión?

“Este año tenemos otra apertura, en Bogotá, el Éxito Country en la 134 con novena, y será el 15 de noviembre, al tiempo del lanzamiento de la aplicación.

El próximo año, tendremos 5 hipermercados con este formato Wow: el Éxito Poblado, el del Este, Buenavista (Barranquilla), Colina (Bogotá) y Unicentro (Bogotá)”.

¿De cuánto es la inversión para las demás tiendas previstas?

“La inversión depende de la extensión de metros cuadrados, de 10 mil, la primera es de 7 mil millones. Esto mismo aplica para la tienda en la 134 en Bogotá. El resto se irán evaluando pues ya son economías de escala, serían 25 mil millones en las demás”.

Espacios de coworking, estas iniciativas parten de que se quiere que las personas vuelvan a hacer mercado… o ¿a qué le apuntan?

“Sobre la experiencia de ir a mercar, hay personas a las que les gusta y otras a las que no. Lo que queremos es sorprender a las personas que vengan, van a tener espacios de coworking, internet gratis (más de 10 mil metros), y combinación de olores y sabores que no se tendrán en internet. Al final queremos entregar una experiencia doble para nuestros clientes; por eso, para los que prefieren los domicilios, tendrán oportunidad de hacerlo (a través de un servicio Pick Up, pueden hacer el mercado y nosotros se lo llevamos a la casa)”.

¿Cuánto esperan que aumenten las visitas, por esta renovación?

“En los dos primeros días de inauguración del almacén ningún empleado podrá traer carro. Son 4 mil parqueaderos disponibles, esa es una buena proporción; pero en un almacén como este, hacemos 12 mil registros diarios”.

Uno de los dolores de cabeza a la hora de hacer mercado es hacer fila, ¿cuáles son las soluciones?

“Desde la aplicación vas a poder programar en qué momento vas a pagar; vas a poder programar el turno para reclamar las carnes, las comidas preparadas. Con el formato Wow podrás dejar tu carrito de mercado, si no puedes llevarlo de inmediato y te lo llevamos cuando estés en la casa”.

¿Exportarán este modelo a Brasil y Argentina?

“Es la idea, pero primero debemos consolidar el proyecto. Lo bueno es que uno también puede exportar partes del modelo, el espacio de coworking, por ejemplo”.

    A deadly Israeli airstrike on Hezbollah’s stronghold in southern Beirut on Friday has left over a dozen people dead, including a high-ranking Hezbollah commander, sharply escalating the conflict between the two sides and raising fears of all-out war.

    Senior Hezbollah commander Ibrahim Aqil, part of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force, was assassinated along with “about 10” other commanders, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Daniel Hagari said, accusing them of planning to raid and occupy communities in Galilee in northern Israel.

    Hezbollah confirmed Aqil’s death on Friday, saying he was killed “following a treacherous Israeli assassination operation on 09/20/2024 in the southern suburbs of Beirut.”

    According to Hagari, the targeted commanders were “underground underneath a residential building in the heart of the Dahiyeh neighborhood, using civilians as a human shield” at the time of the attack.

    Lebanon’s health ministry said at least 14 people were killed and 66 others injured in the airstrike, which leveled a multistory building in a densely populated neighborhood.

    Aqil had a $7 million bounty on his head from the United States for his suspected involvement in the 1983 strike on the US Embassy in Beirut, which killed 63 people, as well as the bombing of the Beirut Marine barracks, which killed 241 US personnel later that year.

    A CNN team on the ground in Beirut saw a frantic effort to rescue people from underneath the rubble and rush the wounded to hospital. Witnesses said nearby buildings shook for nearly half an hour after the strike, which the IDF said it had carried out at around 4 p.m. local time.

    A week of surprise attacks
    Friday’s strike marked the fourth consecutive day of surprise attacks on Beirut and other sites across the country, even as Israeli forces continued deadly strikes and operations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank.

    The first major attack against Hezbollah this week came Tuesday afternoon when pagers belonging to the militant groups’ members exploded near-simultaneously. The pagers had been used by Hezbollah to communicate after the group’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, encouraged members to switch to low-tech devices to prevent more of them from being assassinated.

    Almost exactly 24 hours later, Lebanon was rocked by a second wave of explosions, after Hezbollah walkie-talkies detonated in Beirut and the south of the country on Wednesday.

    At least 37 people were killed, including some children, and more than 3,000 were injured in the twin attacks.

    In a United Nations Security Council meeting on Friday, UN human rights chief Volker Turk on Friday warned that the detonation of communication devices could violate international human rights law.

    Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib and Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon clashed at the heated meeting, with Bou Habib calling on the council to condemn Israel’s actions and Danon slamming the Lebanese envoy for not mentioning Hezbollah.

    The Justice Department on Friday released the long-awaited transcripts of a weeks-old interview it conducted with convicted Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

    Maxwell isn’t coming clean, which undercut the exercise
    The Maxwell interview is the administration’s first significant release of information since its effort to close the matter blew up in its face last month.

    (Also on Friday, it sent Epstein documents to a House committee that had demanded them, but those aren’t public yet.)

    But it was always a weird choice, given Maxwell is a convicted sex offender and her appeals are ongoing. The Justice Department in Trump’s first term also labeled her a brazen liar. What could she possibly add of value?

    The big headlines are that Maxwell doesn’t implicate anybody – including Trump – in any wrongdoing and says Epstein didn’t have a client list. But those statements might carry more weight if Maxwell came clean about her and Epstein’s own misdeeds.

    She clearly didn’t do that. In fact, she repeatedly cast doubt on them, too.

    She denied that Epstein paid her millions of dollars to recruit young women for him. She denied witnessing any nonconsensual sex acts. And she denied seeing anything “inappropriate” from “any man” – seemingly including Epstein.

    Some other Maxwell responses also call her credibility into question.

    In another instance, Maxwell claimed Epstein didn’t have “inappropriate” cameras inside his New York, Caribbean, New Mexico and Paris residences. Cameras in his Palm Beach, Florida, house were used because money was being stolen. But Epstein’s seven-story townhouse in Manhattan was outfitted with cameras, the New York Times reported earlier this month. Several of Epstein’s victims have cited a network of hidden cameras.
