La compañía de juguetes Hasbro Inc. anunció que comprará el estudio británico Entertainment One, propietario de la popular serie de dibujos animados “Pepa Pig” entre otros contenidos para niños, por la suma de US$4.000 millones.

Además de Peppa Pig, la cerdita rosada que ama saltar en charcos fangosos, la compra incluye el exitoso dibujo animado infantil «PJ Masks», sobre un trío de jóvenes amigos que se convierten en superhéroes por la noche.
«La adquisición de marcas para preescolares altamente rentables y comercializables es una oportunidad de crecimiento estratégico para Hasbro», dijo la compañía.
La empresa también confía en el éxito de otro personaje de Entertainment One, Ricky Zoom, una pequeña motocicleta roja, que describe como una «historia única con contenido altamente comercializable».
Esta caricatura se lanzará el 9 de septiembre en la cadena infantil estadounidense Nickelodeon y en otros mercados importantes.
Hasbro planea que la adquisición le ahorre 130 millones de dólares en contrataciones y otras operaciones para el año 2022.
