Farfetch levanta 250 millones de dólares de Tencent y Dragoneer para crecer en China
Farfetch sigue atrayendo al capital. La plataforma de ecommerce fundada por Jose Neves y con sede en Londres ha levantado 250 millones de dólares para impulsar su expansión en China.
La inversión ha estado financiada por Tencent, el gigante tecnológico chino dueño de plataformas como WeChat, y el fondo de inversión Dragoneer, inversor de Airbnb, Etsy, Uber o Spotify. Cada uno ha comprado 125 millones de dólares en deuda convertible en acciones.
Tras el anuncio, las acciones de Farfetch, cotizada desde 2018, se han disparado un 14% en bolsa. La plataforma recibe así un espaldarazo para competir en uno de los mayores mercados para el ecommerce del mundo, pero también de los más complejos.
El comercio electrónico en China está dominado por JD.com y Alibaba, y los operadores extranjeros terminan aliándose con ellos para abordar el ecommerce en el país. Es el caso, por ejemplo, de Yoox Net-a-Porter, que creó una joint venture con Alibaba para su entrada en China.
