Foot Locker pierde rentabilidad. La compañía estadounidense de distribución de moda y material deportivo ha concluido la primera mitad del año con una caída del 8,3% en su beneficio neto, respecto al mismo periodo del año anterior. El grupo alcanzó en los seis primeros meses de su ejercicio un beneficio neto de 232 millones de dólares (209,2 millones de euros).

La empresa mejoró sin embargo sus ventas en el primer semestre con un avance del 1,1%, hasta 2.852 millones de dólares (2.572 millones de euros). En la primera mitad del año, Foot Locker cerró 71 tiendas y abrió otras 24, hasta situar su red comercial en 3.174 establecimientos.

Estados Unidos continúa siendo el mercado donde la compañía tiene una mayor presencia, con 880 tiendas, seguido de Europa, con 634 puntos de venta. Foot Locker suma 107 establecimientos en Canadá, otros 91 en el Pacífico y diez en Asia.

Por otro lado, el grupo cuenta con las cadenas Kids Foot Locker, con 430 puntos de venta; Champs Sports, con 535 tiendas, y Footaction, con 252 locales más.
