Inversión extranjera directa superará los US$2,500 millones en 2019, según Banco Central RD
El gobernador del Banco Central de la República (BCRD), Héctor Valdez Albizu, destacó este miércoles que la capacidad que ha tenido el país para atraer inversionistas extranjeros, gracias la estabilidad macroeconómica, la seguridad jurídica, sumado al clima de paz social que impera, alcanzando en el año 2018 un monto de US$2,535.3 millones de inversión extranjera directa (IED).El gobernador aclaró que, tal y como se explica en el reciente Informe de Inversión Extranjera Directa en América Latina 2019, de la Comisión Económica para América Latina y el Caribe (CEPAL), este monto fue menor al registrado en 2017 debido a una transacción extraordinaria por la compra de acciones de una empresa local por parte de inversionistas extranjeros, con la cual la IED fue de US$3,570.7 millones ese año.
Por tanto, reiteró que el monto de US$2,535.3 millones en 2018 es un retorno al nivel promedio de la inversión extranjera directa de la última década, de US$2,500 millones.

Añadió que este nivel de inversión extranjera coloca a la República Dominicana como un país líder en Centro América y el Caribe, con excepción de Panamá. Asimismo, dijo que se espera continúe el ritmo de inversión y que el 2019 termine con una IED que supere el promedio histórico, por encima de los US$2,500 millones.
En cuanto a las exportaciones, el Albizu hizo mención de los avances en términos de incentivos para lograr mayores niveles; no obstante, planteó la necesidad de desarrollar un producto que sea marca país, por ejemplo el cacao orgánico, del cual somos uno de los principales países exportadores del mundo.
