Prada crece un 3% en 2019 pero frena en el primer trimestre por el coronavirus

Prada mantiene el ritmo en 2019 pero vaticina un retroceso en 2020 por el coronavirus. El grupo italiano de lujo ha concluido su último ejercicio con un incremento del 2,7% en las ventas, hasta 3.226 millones de euros. Mientras, el beneficio neto se ha incrementado un 24,9%, hasta 256 millones de euros. Sin embargo, el ejercicio 2020 ha comenzado a la baja como consecuencia de la crisis del coronavirus.

“El fuerte crecimiento de la compañía hasta finales de enero ha sido interrumpido por el brote de coronavirus; esta emergencia sanitaria está afectando a nuestras actividades operativas”, ha explicado la compañía durante la presentación de los resultados.

De cara a 2020, Prada prevé que la crisis del coronavirus genere un “impacto negativo en los resultados”, aunque no ha precisado de cuánto y asegura estar “implementando un plan integral de contingencia para mitigarlo”.

Asia Pacífico es el primer mercado del grupo italiano, copando el 36% del negocio, aunque en 2019 redujo un 4% como consecuencia de las protestas en Hong Kong. En Europa, las ventas se incrementaron un 6% y representaron el 33% de la facturación total del grupo. América y Japón han copado el 14% del negocio respectivamente, y Europa del Este un 3%.

El mercado que mejor evolucionó fue América, con un alza del 11% a tipos de cambio constante, impulsado por la demanda local. Japón creció un 9% y Europa, un 6%. En cambio, en Asia Pacífico las ventas cayeron un 2%, lastradas por las protestas en Hong Kong, y en Oriente Próximo se encogieron un 1%.

Por categorías de producto, las ventas de ropa se elevaron un 12%, aupadas por el crecimiento a doble dígito en todas las geografías, mientras que tanto los artículos de cuero como el calzado elevaron sus ventas un 2%.

Este año, la compañía fichó por primera vez a un codirector creativo, que coliderará el área junto con Miuccia Prada. El escogido ha sido Raf Simons, exdirector creativo de Dior y, más recientemente, de Calvin Klein.
