Maje reactiva su expansión en España: aterriza en Ibiza y roza 20 tiendas en el país
Maje vuelve a apostar por el mercado español. La cadena francesa, propiedad del grupo chino Shandong Ruyi, se encamina a la veintena de tiendas en el país con una nueva apertura en Ibiza, donde se instalará en los próximos meses.
La compañía abrirá su primera tienda en la isla en el número 11 de Vara de Rey, el principal eje comercial de la isla y peatonal desde 2017. El establecimiento tiene 200 metros cuadrados y se encuentra en la misma calle en la que operan Sephora, Lacoste o Massimo Dutti. La operación ha sido intermediada por Alorac Illes Balears, quien ha asesorado también otras operaciones en los últimos años en la isla como Desigual, Dolce&Gabbana o Sephora.
España es uno de los principales mercados del grupo SMCP en la región de Europa, Oriente Próximo y África (que excluye Francia). La empresa, propietaria de Maje, Sandro y Claudie Pierlot, aterrizó en España en 2007 con la apertura de la primera tienda de Maje en Madrid de la mano de un master franquiciado.
Maje opera con 17 tiendas en España y corners en El Corte Inglés
En los años siguientes, la cadena se expandió con tiendas en las principales ciudades del país hasta sumar diecisiete establecimientos en localidades como A Coruña, Palma, San Sebastián, Santander o Marbella. Maje complementó su expansión con corners en El Corte Inglés, donde ya suma catorce espacios. Tras cubrir todo el territorio español, el grupo moderó su expansión en el país: desde 2017, la compañía apenas había sumado una nueva tienda en Valencia.
Su entrada en Ibiza se suma a la de otras cadenas que han aterrizado en la isla en los últimos años. Sólo en 2019, aterrizaron en Ibiza firmas como Dolce&Gabana, Dior, Sephora y Massimo Dutti, que también abrió en Vara de Rey.
De 20 a mil en diez años
El grupo SMCP ha multiplicado su facturación por cinco desde 2010 apoyada en la expansión internacional. La compañía facturó 1.132 millones de euros en 2019, un 11,3% más que el año anterior, gracias al tirón de Asia Pacífico, donde disparó sus ventas un 28%.
La empresa es propiedad de Shandong Ruyi, un grupo chino fundado en 1972 y con intereses en toda la cadena de valor, desde la materia prima hasta marcas de moda. Una de sus últimas compras ha sido Invista, el mayor fabricante de hilo sintético del mundo y dueño de Lycra.
Además, la empresa también ha engordado SMCP con la compra el pasado septiembre de De Foursac, especializada en moda masculina. Hasta ahora, el grupo operaba en ese segmento sólo con Sandro.
