Europa estrecha lazos con África con un ‘macroacuerdo’
La Unión Europea estrecha lazos con África. La Comisión Europea ha presentado una hoja de ruta para África en la que se plantea una alianza entre los dos continentes desde el punto de vista medioambiental, social y financiero.
El documento, presentado por el Alto Representante de la Unión Europea para Política Exterior, Josep Borrell, y la responsable de Comisión Internacional, Jutta Urpilainen, se centra en cinco aspectos clave en los que reforzar su relación con África: el cambio climático, la transformación digital, el crecimiento y empleo sostenible, la paz y gobernanza y la migración y movilidad.
La propuesta prioriza la involucración del continente africano en la agenda verde europea. La alianza propone maximizar los beneficios de la transición verde y minimizar las amenazas medioambientales en cumplimiento con el Acuerdo de París, además de fomentar las inversiones sostenibles.
La hoja de ruta tiene como objetivo el impulso del crecimiento tecnológico en África.
La hoja de ruta también incide en otros temas y entre sus objetivos está el impulso al crecimiento tecnológico en África, la incrementación del uso de mecanismos financieros que impulsen la integración regional y continental y la atracción de inversiones al continente apoyando a los estados africanos a adoptar políticas y reformas que mejoren el clima empresarial.
La presidenta de la Comisión Europea, Ursula von der Leyen, ha señalado que África es la “vecina” de la Unión Europea y que “juntos podremos construir un futuro más próspero, pacífico y sostenible para todos”
Jutta Urpilainen, responsable de la Comisión Internacional, ha añadido que “el objetivo común debe ser favorecer un orden internacional basado en el multilateralismo” y que con esta estrategia Europa y África “liderarán la transformación verde y digital.”
Esta propuesta presentada por la Comissión Europea servirá de guión en la cumbre entre la Unión Europea y la Unión Africana que se celebrará en octubre de este mismo año.
