Coronavirus: Gap anticipa un impacto de 100 millones de dólares en ventas en el primer trimestre
Gap se suma a las revisiones de previsiones por el coronavirus. La compañía ha anticipado un impacto de cien millones de dólares (89 millones de euros) en ventas y de 0,10 dólares en su beneficio por acción en el primer trimestre (entre febrero y abril) debido a la expansión de la pandemia, según ha explicado hoy en un comunicado con motivo de la presentación de los resultados del ejercicio 2019.
La revisión se debe principalmente al impacto que esta crisis está teniendo en Asia y Europa. Sin embargo, el grupo apunta que “actualmente no es posible proveer una estimación razonable de un mayor impacto, incluyendo una potencial disrupción en la cadena de aprovisionamiento o una caída de la demanda en estas geografías o en otras, incluyendo Estados Unidos”.

En este sentido, las previsiones actuales de Gap para el cierre del ejercicio sólo incluyen el impacto estimado en el primer trimestre. En concreto, la empresa estadounidense prevé que tanto las ventas comparables como las netas se reduzcan a un solo dígito, a medida que continúa la reestructuración de la red de tiendas de Gap.
“Nos enfrentamos a un periodo de incertidumbre en lo que se refiere al potencial impacto tanto en nuestra supply chain como en la demanda”, apuntó Sonia Syngal, nombrada este mismo mes nueva consejera delegada del grupo.
