Apple Inc. presenta una dependencia de China que parece ser cada vez más su mayor desventaja.
La compañía de electrónica de consumo más influyente del mundo perdió US$44.000 millones de valor de mercado el viernes cuando un par de pronunciamientos de Pekín y Washington resaltaron la operación de su enorme base de producción china, en donde se fabrican casi todos los iPhone del mundo.
El presidente estadounidense, Donald Trump, «ordenó» este fin de semana a compañías estadounidenses comenzar inmediatamente a buscar alternativas a la fabricación en China, situación para la que Apple no estaba completamente preparada, según el analista Daniel Ives de Wedbush Securities Inc.
«En el mejor de los casos», dice Ives, Apple «podría sacar de China entre 5% y 7% de la producción de iPhone» a lo largo de 18 meses.
La compañía necesitaría tres años para mover 20%, agrega, que sigue siendo menos del 25% de la producción de iPhone que Apple necesita para su mercado interno de EE.UU. Por lo tanto, los aranceles estadounidenses a los productos procedentes de China afectarían directamente al mayor generador de dinero de Apple.
