Clarks se aprieta el cinturón: anuncia 170 despidos
Clarks anuncia recortes de cara a 2020. La compañía de calzado, con sede en Somerset (Inglaterra), ha comunicado el nuevo plan de reestructuración que contempla 170 despidos de cara al nuevo año. Clarks cuenta actualmente con una plantilla global de aproximadamente 13.000 empleados.
Actualmente la empresa está liderada por Giorgio Presca, ex Levi’s, Diesel y Geox, quien reemplazó a Mike Shearwood, después de su abrupta salida en marzo pasado. En noviembre de este año, la empresa fichó a Philip de Klerk, ex consejero delegado de Low&Bonar, como nuevo director financiero para encarar su reestructuración.
Este recorte llega después de que la compañía registrara pérdidas valoradas en 82,9 millones de libras (99,32 millones de euros) a cierre del ejercicio de 2018. Las ventas del grupo, por su parte, cayeron un 4,6% en los doce últimos meses, hasta 1.468 millones de libras (1.703,4 millones de euros), frente a los 1.539 millones de libras (1.785,8 millones de euros) del año anterior.
La compañía, que fue fundada en 1825 por los hermanos James y Cyrus Clarks, cuenta con 750 tiendas a escala global. Actualmente, la familia Clark continúa siendo accionista mayoritario de la empresa con 84% de las acciones.
