El gigante nipon Seiko salta a la calle en España: primera tienda en Madrid
El retail madrileño gana un nuevo operador. La compañía japonesa de relojería, controlada en España por Geresa, propiedad del grupo Cadarso, ha abierto en Madrid su primera tienda física tras más de cuatro décadas operando en territorio español.
La compañía ha puesto en marcha un establecimiento en el Barrio de Salamanca, uno de los ejes prime de la capital española. El punto de venta está ubicado en el número 15 de la calle Ayala, en un local ocupado hasta ahora por la francesa Lacoste. La operación ha estado asesorada por Cushman&Wakefield.
La nueva tienda, que cuenta con alrededor de 160 metros cuadrados de superficie, compartirá vía con otros retailers como Ikks, Scalpers, Comptoir de Cotonniers, así como otros grupos especializados en accesorios como Joyería Pérez.
Seiko está gestionado en España por grupo Geresa
Seiko desembarcó en España hace más de cuatro décadas y desde entonces ha estado distribuida en el país por Geresa, la división de relojería de Grupo Cadarso, que también distribuye en el mercado español otras marcas como Nixon, Ice-Watch, Wenger y Timberland.
Hasta ahora, la presencia de Seiko en el mercado español estaba concentrada y en tiendas multimarca en ciudades como Barcelona, Madrid, Navarra, Sevilla o Tenerife. En total, la red comercial del grupo en España asciende a más de doscientos puntos de venta.
La compañía nació en Tokio en 1881 de la mano de Kintaro Hattori. El objetivo del grupo era convertirse en el líder mundial en la tecnología del tiempo. La compañía es uno de los principales productores de relojería, y cuenta también con las marcas Pulsar, Clocks y Lorus.
La división de relojería del grupo cerró el ejercicio de 2018 con unos ingresos de 148.000 millones de yenes (1.228 millones de euros), un 1,2% más que el año anterior.
Seiko Holdings Corporation, matriz de la compañía, también opera en el segmento de la electrónica e informática. En total, el grupo finalizó el último ejercicio con unas ventas de 247.293 millones de yenes (2.053 millones de euros), un 7,9% menos.
