Esprit lo vuelve a intentar en China. El grupo alemán, que cotiza en la bolsa de Hong Kong, ha creado una joint venture con la empresa local Mulsanne para impulsar su negocio en el país. Actualmente, Esprit genera sólo el 3,7% de sus ventas en China continental.
Las dos empresas aportarán 100 millones de yenes (12,9 millones de euros) a la nueva sociedad, que estará controlada en un 60% por Mulsanne y en un 40% por Esprit. El acuerdo excluye las operaciones en Hong Kong, Macao y Taiwán y se prevé que se cierre el próximo julio.
Esprit redujo un 38,8% sus ventas en el mercado chino el año pasado
Mulsanne cuenta con una red de 2.000 tiendas en China continental y opera con marcas como GXG, Yatlas y 2XU. Mientras no se culmina la nueva joint venture, pendiente del visto bueno de las autoridades de competencia, Esprit continuará cerrando tiendas en el país en el marco de su plan global de reducción de costes.
En el ejercicio 2018, cerrado el 30 de junio de este año, Esprit facturó 481 millones de dólares de Hong Kong (55,7 millones de euros) en el país, un 33,8% menso que el año anterior, excluyendo las operaciones online.
