La Agencia Europea del Medio Ambiente pone en valor modelos como el alquiler, el intercambio, la reventa de prendas, que debería ser apoyado mediante políticas gubernamentales.
Según el estudio, basado en un informe de European Topic Centre on Waste and Materials in a Green Economy, en la producción y manipulación de ropa, calzado y textiles para el hogar en Europa se gastó alrededor de 104 metros cúbicos de agua por habitante y 1,3 toneladas de materias primas.
La producción de ropa y calzado emitió a la atmósfera alrededor de 654 kilos de CO2 por habitante en 2017, según la Agencia Europea del Medio Ambiente.
