Innovación: Toyota y Panasonic crearán nueva compañía centrada en hogares inteligentes
La empresa llevará por nombre Prime Life Technologies Corporation y fusionará las iniciativas de movilidad del fabricante automovilístico y los proyectos de modernización de la compañía de electrodomésticos.
El fabricante automovilístico Toyota Motor y la tecnológica Panasonic anunciaron este jueves que constituirán una compañía en 2020 que integrará cinco de sus subsidiarias centradas en el desarrollo de hogares inteligentes y aparatos conectados.
La nueva empresa, que prevén constituir en enero del próximo año, llevará por nombre Prime Life Technologies Corporation y ambas compañías tendrán la misma proporción de participación, según el comunicado conjunto publicado hoy, en el que también se detalla que otro de los participantes de la misma será la nipona Mitsui & Co.
Toyota y Panasonic buscan «fusionar las iniciativas de movilidad promocionadas por Toyota» y los proyectos sobre «‘modernización del estilo de vida’ encabezadas por Panasonic» para fortalecerse ante el «rápido cambio» del sector, por el desarrollo de nuevas tecnologías y conceptos como CASE (acrónimo en inglés de «conectado, autónomo, compartido y eléctrico»).
«De aquí en adelante, la información vinculará todos los aspectos y servicios que ayudan a la vida cotidiana gracias al desarrollo de CASE», dijo en el texto el presidente de Toyota Motor, Akio Toyoda, que considera que para evolucionar en este negocio «es importante tener un espíritu de cooperación con amigos y aliados».
La nueva compañía busca convertirse en un ente rentable ante el previsible aumento de la competitividad que consideran que dejarán factores como la disminución de viviendas nuevas debido a la caída demográfica o el desarrollo de nuevos conceptos de movilidad, en los ámbitos del transporte público y privado a través de la tecnología.
«Uniremos nuestras respectivas fortalezas para ofrece un valor nuevo», dijo por su parte el presidente de Panasonic, Kazuhiro Tsuga, que considera esta oportunidad como un desafío para que la tecnológica compañía siga «avanzando en el negocio».
Panasonic es una de las empresas japonesas líderes en el desarrollo de vecindarios inteligentes y sostenibles, como el establecido en la localidad de Fujisawa, unos 50 kilómetros al sur de Tokio.
El establecimiento de la nueva compañía profundizará aún más la colaboración que mantienen Toyota y Panasonic, que en enero de este año anunciaron la creación para finales de 2020 de otra empresa conjunta para desarrollar baterías de vehículos eléctricos.
