Mothercare: sale el consejero delegado en plena reestructuración
Mothercare releva su capital en plena reestructuración. La compañía británica de moda infantil ha informado de la salida del consejero delegado, Mark Newton-Jones, como parte de los “planes de transformación de la empresa”, que tiene previsto cerrar su negocio en Reino Unido el próximo febrero.
El hasta ahora director financiero de la empresa, Glyn Hughes, relevará en el cargo a Newton-Jones de forma inmediata. Finalmente, Mothercare también ha acordado que su presidente, Clive Whiley, se convierta en el nuevo el presidente no ejecutivo a partir del próximo 29 de marzo.
El grupo ha anunciado también su nueva hoja de ruta. Mothercare quiere fortalecer su marca a escala global, mejorar el diseño del producto, las campañas de márketing y la distribución. Para ello, el pasado diciembre la compañía británica selló un acuerdo de franquicia con Boots, la mayor cadena de parafarmacia de Reino Unido para continuar operando en el país tras el cierre de todas sus tiendas.
En el primer semestre del ejercicio, cerrado el pasado 12 de octubre, Mothercare redujo sus ventas un 13,2%, hasta 324,1 millones de libras (385,2 millones de euros). El beneficio bruto de la compañía se situó en 21,2 millones de libras (25,1 millones de euros), un 14% más que en el mismo periodo de 2018.
