Nike se repliega en el multimarca. El gigante estadounidense de moda y equipamiento deportivo ha anunciado que suspenderá su contrato de suministro con algunos puntos de venta multimarca en Reino Unido a partir de 2020. La empresa ha explicado que las ventas a través de este canal “ya no estaba alineada con la estrategia de distribución de Nike”, según The Sunday Times.
El objetivo de este movimiento por parte de la compañía estadounidense es aumentar sus ganancias y márgenes eliminando intermediarios, reducir los descuentos de los multimarca, así como controlar su red de distribución.
Nike ya puso en marcha esta estrategia en 2017, cuando anunció que tenía previsto reducir su presencia en el canal multimarca. Con el plan Consumer Direct Offense, el objetivo de la empresa es “volvernos aún más agresivos en el mercado digital, apuntando a mercados clave y entregando productos más rápido que nunca”.
La compañía estadounidense ha cerrado el primer trimestre con un alza en las ventas del 7%, hasta 10.660 millones de dólares (9.689 millones de euros). El beneficio neto, por su parte, se disparó un 25%, hasta 1.367 millones de dólares (1.242,5 millones de euros).
