USA: Walmart invierte más de USD 300 millones en gigante del comercio electrónico chino

La firma china de abarrotes y entrega en línea Dada-JD Daojia, informó la semana pasada que había recaudado USD 500 millones de Walmart y JD.com en su última ronda de financiación, indicó la agencia de noticias Reuters.

La compañía se compone de dos negocios y es en parte propiedad de JD.com, en la que Google dijo en junio que invertiría USD 550 millones.

Dada opera una red de 5 millones de repartidores, mientras que JD Daojia se asocia con tiendas minoristas y ofrece servicios de entrega de comestibles y otros artículos en una hora, informó Reuters.

Walmart, empresa con sede en Estados Unidos, dijo que invirtió alrededor de USD 320 millones en la última recaudación de fondos.

La asociación de la compañía con Dada-JD Daojia data del 2016, cuando Walmart invirtió USD 50 millones, comentó la empresa. Agregó que en la actualidad, 200 tiendas Walmart en 30 importantes ciudades chinas tienen presencia en JD Daojia.

“Confiamos en que esta colaboración más profunda con Dada-JD Daojia mejorará nuestra huella omnicanal y ofrecerá una mejor experiencia al cliente O2O (en línea a fuera de línea)”, dijo Wern-Yuen Tan, presidente y CEO de Walmart China.

El gigante del retail ha estado presionando para integrar su red minorista en China con el floreciente movimiento de “venta minorista inteligente” del país, ya que minoristas y gigantes tecnológicos como Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. y Tencent Holdings Ltd., cerraron acuerdos para combinar la experiencia en línea y fuera de línea de los compradores.

El movimiento implica la eliminación de las barreras entre las compras en línea y fuera de línea y permite a los consumidores obtener sus compras en un plazo muy corto desde la realización del pedido.

A principios de este año, Walmart dijo que abrió su primer supermercado de alta tecnología en la sureña ciudad de Shenzhen, el que almacenará productos que los clientes también podrán comprar en la tienda del minorista estadounidense en JD Daojia. Las tiendas compiten con Hema de Alibaba para proporcionar una entrega rápida de comestibles a los clientes.
