Gvasalia, hermano del diseñador y director general de la compañía, en un comunicado.
Nacido en Georgia, el diseñador estudió economía internacional en la Universidad Estatal del Tbilisi, para posteriormente iniciar otros estudios en la Real Academia de Bellas Artes de Amberes (Bélgica). En 2006, el creativo se graduó en diseño de moda e inició su trayectoria junto al diseñador Walter van Beirendonck.
En 2009, Gvasalia se unió al equipo de diseño de Maison Martin Margiela, y en 2013 fichó por Louis Vuitton como diseñador sénior de las colecciones de moda femenina, bajo el mando de Marc Jacobs primero y, posteriormente, de Nicolas Ghesquière.
