Nike completa la venta de Hurley a Bluestar Alliance
Nike culmina la venta de Hurley. La compañía estadounidense ha vendido la firma de surf a Bluestar Alliance por un importe que no ha trascendido. Nike se había hecho con la empresa en 2002 por 95 millones de dólares (85 millones de euros).
El objetivo de Bluestar Alliance es impulsar las ventas de Hurley en otras categorías como el skate y el snow, y acelerar su línea de mujer. “Hemos tenido conversaciones iniciales para expandir la presencia de Hurley en parques de surf y skate”, explicó Ralph Gindi, cofundador de Bluestar Alliance, en un comunicado.
La marca espera también que alguno de los atletas que patrocina se clasifique para competir en los Juegos Olímpicos de Japón de 2020, donde el surf será por primera vez un deporte oficial.
Bluestar Alliance fue fundada en 2006 por Joseph Gabbay y Ralph Gindi. La compañía controla marcas como Hurley, Bebe, Tahari, Kensie, Limited Too, Joan Vass y Melandrino, entre otras. La empresa opera con una red de 250 tiendas, además de distribuidores en todo el mundo.
