COP25: la moda se da cita en la Cumbre del Clima un año después de firmar su propio Acuerdo de París
La moda se abre paso en la Cumbre del Clima de la ONU (COP25). Representantes de retailers e industriales se dan cita hoy en Madrid para exponer las conclusiones del Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action (Ficca), firmado el año pasado por 43 gigantes del sector.
El Ficca incluye el objetivo de alcanzar cero emisiones netas de carbón en 2050, con una meta intermedia de reducir las emisiones en un 30% hasta 2030. El acuerdo se selló en el marco de la anterior Cumbre del Clima, que tuvo lugar en Katowice (Polonia), y está suscrito por Inditex, Kering, Adidas, Burberry, H&M, Gap, Levi Strauss o Target, entre otras compañías y organizaciones.
Hoy se presentarán en Madrid las conclusiones de los siete grupos de trabajo: descarbonización, materias primas, producción y energía, logística, política, apalancarse en las herramientas existentes y promocionar más acciones en materia climática.
Más de cuarenta grupos firmaron el Charter for Climate Action en la anterior Cumbre del Clima
En el primero participan compañías como Textil Santanderina, representada por su consejero delegado, Juan Parés. El pasado viernes, la empresa participó también en otro evento sectorial en el COP25 bajo el título de Hacia la neutralidad en carbono de la industria textil española.
En el encuentro se hizo hincapié en la importancia de la industria textil como socio estratégico para avanzar en la descarbonización y se repasaron los esfuerzos que se están haciendo en este sentido.
Participaron en el mismo Josep Moré, presidente de Texfor; Lydia Pérez, directora de sostenibilidad de Tejidos Royo; Berta Párés, de Textil Santanderina; Paqui Ferrer, de Hilaturas Ferre, Marcelí Pérez, al frente de sostenibilidad en Holistex, y David Allo, responsable de sostenibilidad de CIE y Texfor.
El viernes, la industria se reunió en el COP25 para debatir sobre la desindustrialización
En los últimos años, la sostenibilidad se ha colocado en el centro de la agenda del negocio de la moda. Además de los proyectos individuales de cada compañía, los gigantes del sector han unido fuerzas en torno a diferentes compromisos para avanzar en sostenibilidad.
Al Ficca se suma el acuerdo global New Plastics Economy, promovido por la Fundación Ellen MacArthur y firmado por empresas como Burberry, L’Oréal, Stella McCartney, H&M o Inditex, junto con grupos de otros ámbitos industriales. Con este pacto, las empresas se comprometían a eliminar los prácticos de un solo uso y a fomentar su circularidad.
En enero, los principales representantes de las grandes corporaciones del sector se dieron cita en la cumbre del Foro Económico Mundial en la localidad suiza de Davos para sellar la CEO Agenda. Asos, Bestseller, H&M o Li&Fung fueron algunos de los firmantes del documento, con el que se comprometían a avanzar en la trazabilidad y reducir el impacto medioambiental.
En verano, coincidiendo con la cumbre del G7 en Biarritz, una treintena de compañías sellaron el Fashion Pact, una hoja de ruta hacia la sostenibilidad basada en tres puntos: detener el cambio climático, restaurar la biodiversidad y proteger los océanos. El pacto fue impulsado por el presidente de la República Francesa, Emmanuel Macron, y el primer ejecutivo de Kering, François-Henri Pinault.
