Burberry cuantifica el impacto del Covid-19: caída de hasta el 50% desde enero
Burberry cuantifica el primer impacto del coronavirus en su negocio. Las ventas comparables de la compañía británica de lujo se han reducido entre un 40% y un 50% desde el pasado 24 de enero, según ha adelantado el grupo a través de un comunicado. Burberry, que cerrará su ejercicio 2020 el próximo 28 de marzo, prevé concluir el cuarto trimestre de su año fiscal con una caída en las ventas del 30%.
“El efecto negativo del Covid-19 en la demanda de lujo se ha intensificado y ahora está afectando a la industria en todas las regiones”, ha dicho el consejero delegado de Burberry, Marco Gobbetti.
“Nuestra principal preocupación es la emergencia de salud mundial y seguimos tomando todas las precauciones para ayudar a prevenir la propagación del virus y garantizar la seguridad y el bienestar de nuestros empleados, socios y clientes”, ha añadido el grupo británico.
Para paliar el impacto negativo que el coronavirus está provocando en el negocio, Burberry ha asegurado que “estamos implementado acciones de mitigación para contener nuestros costes y proteger nuestra posición financiera, respaldados por nuestro sólido balance”. Además, el primer ejecutivo de la compañía se ha mostrado “confiado en nuestra estrategia y fortaleza de nuestra marca”.
Estée Lauder ha suspendido sus previsiones
El 85% de las tiendas del grupo en América permanecen cerradas y las que todavía no lo han hecho operan con un horario reducido; en Europa, Oriente Próximo y África más del 60% de las tiendas de Burberry están también con la persiana bajada. En total, Bruberry tiene alrededor del 40% de sus establecimientos de todo el mundo cerrados a consecuencia de la crisis del coronavirus.
Por otro lado, Estée Lauder ha cancelado sus previsiones de crecimiento, que se situaba entre un 0% y un 1%, ante la crisis del Covid-19. “La mayoría de las tiendas en Norteamérica y Europa están cerrando, nuestro negocio a escala global se está viendo más afectado de lo que esperábamos”, ha dicho el presidente y consejero delegado de la compañía, Frabizio Freda.
El primer ejecutivo de la empresa estadounidense ha asegurado que, como consecuencia, “estamos retirando nuestras previsiones previas, que ya no esperamos cumplir, y esperamos proporcionar una actualización sobre los impactos del Covid-19 en nuestro negocio, así como nuestros planes de recuperación, el próximo 1 de mayo”.
