La compañía ha acelerado durante los últimos meses la estrategia de desinversión en activos inmobiliarios. En verano, El Corte Inglés cerró la venta de los inmuebles en Madrid, en la calle Princesa y en Bilbao, en la Gran Vía, a Inbest, vehículo inversor de Corpfin Capital Real Estate. El precio de la operación se situó en 100 millones de euros,y en ambos casos El Corte Inglés continúa operando bajo régimen de arrendamiento. En octubre, además, el grupo vendió dos centros en Valencia, también a Inbest, por 90 millones de euros.

El grupo de grandes almacenes elevó en el primer semestre de 2018 un 4,4% su beneficio bruto de explotación (ebitda), que situó en 335 millones de euros. Entre enero y agosto, la compañía registró una cifra de negocio de 7.585 millones de euros, un 0,4% más que en el mismo periodo del año anterior.
