Etnia Barcelona, nueva hoja de ruta: plan de crecimiento quinquenal y 120 millones en 2023
Etnia Barcelona da un salto adelante. La compañía, especializada en óptica, ha delineado un nuevo plan de expansión que tiene como objetivo llegar a ochenta países y alcanzar 120 millones de euros de facturación en 2023.
La empresa alcanzó una cifra de negocio de 66 millones de euros en el ejercicio 2018, lo que representa un 3,12% más frente a los 64 millones de euros que ingresó en el ejercicio anterior. Para 2019, Etnia Barcelona prevé superar la barrera de los setenta millones de euros, según ha explicado Cristina Trujillo, consejera delegada de la compañía, a Modaes.es.
Con la puesta en marcha de la nueva estrategia, Etnia Barcelona ha dado por concluido el proceso de transformación que inició hace casi dos años con la finalidad de profesionalizar su estructura.

La compañía, que fue fundada en 2000 por David Pellicer y su familia, fichó a Trujillo, que provenía de Desigual, en diciembre de 2017, para pilotar el cambio. La empresa también reforzó las direcciones de recursos humanos, comercial y financiera.
El año anterior, Etnia Barcelona realizó una ampliación de la fábrica que posee en China desde hace ocho años, incorporando un área para la producción de las monturas de acetato, tanto para las gafas de vista como de sol.
La empresa ha ejecutado todos estos cambios para reforzar el posicionamiento en los 63 países en que opera actualmente. En cinco años, la compañía prevé estar presente en ochenta mercados, entre los que se incluyen los países de Latinoamérica y Oriente Medio. En la actualidad, Etnia Barcelona genera el 92% de su facturación en los mercados internacionales.

La compañía cuenta con una plantilla compuesta por 450 personas, de las cuales, 150 se encuentran en su cuartel general en Esplugues de Llobregat (Barcelona), y su tienda insignia, situada en el barrio del Born, en la capital catalana. El establecimiento ocupa un edificio de cinco plantas, las dos primeras dedicadas a la venta del producto al público, y las restantes a profesionales del sector óptico.
Etnia Barcelona, además, cuenta con cuatro filiales, dos de ellas en Asia: la una está localizada en su fábrica de China y otra en Hong Kong. En América, la empresa tiene filiales en Canadá y Estados Unidos.
Las instalaciones de Estados Unidos están en Canadá y, desde ellas, se coordina a un equipo de cincuenta personas que trabaja en todo el país. En la actualidad, el mercado estadounidense aporta el 20% de la facturación global de la compañía.
