Flamingo diversifica: la ‘start up’ se lanza a las gafas graduadas
Flamingo da el salto a la óptica. La start up de gafas de sol, fundada en 2015, ha obtenido la licencia para graduar en su tienda de Madrid, que abrió sus puertas el pasado marzo. La compañía ha lanzado ya su primera línea de monturas para gafas graduadas y planea la apertura de una segunda óptica en Valencia el próximo año.
La compañía ha comenzado a operar con este nuevo modelo en su tienda del número 10 de la calle Almirante de Madrid, en el barrio de Justicia, la única que tiene actualmente y que cuenta con una superficie de 120 metros cuadrados. La nueva línea de gafas graduadas está también disponible online.
El sector de la óptica continúa estando poco digitalizado, con una cuota de venta online que no supera el 10%. En los últimos años, nuevos operadores disruptivos han tratado de romper la barrera del ecommerce. Uno de los pioneros fue la estadounidense Warby Parker, especializada únicamente en gafas graduadas.
Flamingo prevé abrir una segunda óptica el año que viene en Valencia
“El canal óptico sufría un problema que recaía directamente en nuestros clientes con precios elevados y promociones con letras pequeñas”, explica Alberto Velarde, fundador de la empresa. Las gafas monofocales de Flamingo tienen un precio único de setenta euros y las progresivas ascienden a 175 euros. En el caso de sol, las monofocales tienen un precio único de 125 euros y las progresivas, de 215 euros.
Flamingo, que nació de la mano de Alberto Velarde y otros tres socios en 2015, cerró una ronda de financiación el año pasado, con la que dio entrada a nuevos socios. El objetivo de esta ampliación era impulsar su expansión internacional. La pasada primavera, la empresa abrió su primera tienda propia en Cartagena de Indias, Colombia.
La empresa tiene previsto crecer entre un 5% y un 15% en 2019 y no descarta una nueva ronda de financiación
La compañía prevé continuar impulsando su red de retail con la apertura de dos nuevas tiendas, sólo para sol, en Bogotá y Lisboa. Flamingo opera también a través del canal multimarca y con su plataforma de venta online. En 2019, la empresa tiene previsto crecer entre un 5% y un 15%. Según los últimos datos disponibles, Flamingo cerró el ejercicio de 2016 con una facturación de 1,5 millones de euros. A medio plazo, la compañái no descarta cerrar una nueva ronda de financiación.
