¨Los años te dan la experiencia. Nosotros hemos tenido la dicha de tener nuestra empresa por 50 años y vivir todo tipo de situación. Eso nos ha dado una vivencia que nos permite ver diferente a los que están enfrentando una situación difícil por primera vez ;  hay que ver un poco más allá, con optimismo y después ya verlo como un recuerdo, una vivencia más¨, apuntó.

El optimismo no puede ser sin los pies en la tierra, asegura vamos a tener que ser fuertes, vamos a tener que hacer cambios en la industria, vamos a tener  que adaptarnos a los nuevos tiempos, pero con la capacidad para mantenernos un paso adelante en la industria del Caribe.

Hace énfasis que lo más importante en esta situación dentro del sector hotelero es trabajar con la gente, su mayor activo, se están repartiendo 3500 comidas calientes diarias en la zona, mantener la unión entre  la comunidad y los hoteleros es muy importante así cómo la participación de todos, sector público, la comunidad, los empresarios, ¨si trabajamos todos juntos vamos a resolver esta situación más rápido¨, dijo.

Cada vez que ocurren eventos importantes hay un cambio en la industria turística y nos adaptamos; durante un tiempo la gente estará preocupada por el COVID-19. Las líneas aéreas ya han hablado de medidas especificas, los restaurantes tendrán capacidad para menos comensales, tendremos otros tipos de actividades adaptadas a las nuevas condiciones, caminatas, actividades ambientales, bicicletas, etc. , comentó.

Las nuevas medidas serán parte de la vida y no de un protocolo. Nos acostumbraremos, así mismo será en los aeropuertos, estamos trabajando en el de Punta Cana, pondremos más máquinas lectoras para no interactuar con humanos, en lugar de un solo carrusel para el equipaje serán más, se está trabajando en esos protocolos, consensuando con Asonahores y el Ministerio de Turismo para presentar una propuesta al Gobierno y que sea mas fácil la aceptación de estas medidas, apuntó.

¨Poner una fecha efectiva es tener una bola de cristal, posiblemente en Junio debemos estar iniciando el proceso de apertura; en el caso de la industria turística es diferente a otros sectores,  tenemos que contar con los turoperadores , las líneas aéreas que hay que contratar, es un trabajo internacional, por tanto necesitamos un tiempo mayor que las demás industrias para abrir, en las próximas semanas hay que evaluar estas posibilidades¨.

Hay que tener en cuenta siempre las medidas del Gobierno y lo que decida en pos de cuidar la salud de la población, en las próximas semanas hay que consensuar protocolos y si queremos abrir en junio hay que tener en cuenta estos aspectos. Hay países que se están preparando para una reapertura, muy cercanos a nosotros y quieren ya restablecer sus industrias.Tenemos que manejarlo con prudencia y cuidado y sobre todo que la presión económica no predomine, tienen que estar de acuerdo la parte de Salud y la Económica, enfatizó.

¨Me siento mucho más optimista cada vez,en los próximos 45 días podríamos esperar la llegada de turistas y la apertura de la zona turística. En la última semana 21 línea aéreas se han puesto en contacto con nosotros para ver cuando pueden empezar a volar al país, hemos estado trabajando en esos temas junto con el Gobierno, ya que esta no es una decisión de hoteleros, es de estado y solo el presidente de la República a puede tomar esa decisión, esta es una responsabilidad de ellos¨.
