Macy’s: 125.000 empleos en juego por el coronavirus
Macy’s toma medidas ante la crisis del coronavirus. El gigante estadounidense de grandes almacenes, también dueño de Bloomingdale’s ha puesto en marcha el equivalente estadounidense a un expediente de regulación temporal de empleo (Erte) sobre “la mayoría de sus empleados”.
La empresa, que no ha comunicado a cuántos trabajadores afectará la medida, cuenta con una plantilla de 125.000 personas. “Esperamos que los empleados vuelvan de forma escalonada a medida que el negocio se recupere”, ha explicado la empresa en un comunicado. La compañía ha señalado que mantendrá el seguro médico de todos los empleados hasta mayo.
El grupo mantiene cerradas sus 775 tiendas desde el pasado 18 de marzo y “continuarán cerradas hasta que se sepa cuándo es seguro volver a abrir”, ha señalado Macy’s. En paralelo, el grupo ha comunicado que mantiene abierto el canal digital.
Macy’s ha puesto en marcha un plan de contingencia para hacer frente a la crisis del coronavirus. El grupo ha suspendido el dividendo, dispuesto de su línea de crédito, ha congelado cualquier contratación y ha cancelado pedidos. Además, Macy’s también ha explicado que está evaluando “otras opciones financieras”.
