Manolo Blahnik su única tienda en Estados Unidos: baja la persiana en Nueva York
Manolo Blahnik cierra su icónica tienda de Manhattan. La empresa de calzado ha decidió cerrar, la que ha sido por 38 años su única tienda dentro de Estados Unidos. La noticia fue comunicada con un letrero en la entrada principal de la tienda con el mensaje “Muchas gracias por ser un gran cliente durante los últimos 38 años”.
“Estamos buscando nuevas oportunidades de venta minorista en Norteamérica y esperamos anunciar pronto una nueva y emocionante ubicación”, explicó la empresa.
El pasado mes de abril, la compañía de calzado de lujo rompió relaciones con sus socios históricos en Estados Unidos por más de 37 años, George Malkemus y Anthony Yurgaitis, que además eran copropietarios de la tienda ubicada en Manhattan. George Malkemus ocupó el cargo de presidente de la compañía en Estados Unidos, por más de treinta años y la ayudó en convertirse en una de las empresas de calzado de lujo más reconocidas.
Manolo Blahnik fue fundada por el español Manuel Blahnik Rodríguez y abrió su primera tienda en 1970, en Chelsea (Londres). Cuenta en la actualidad, con una red de distribución de 290 puntos de venta en más de treinta países. En julio pasado, Manolo Blahnik compró la Calzaturificio Re Marcello, una factoría de calzado en la localidad de Vigevano cerca de Milán, que había sido proveedora de la empresa desde 1990.
