La mañana de este viernes falleció el presidente de la Asociación de Bancos Comerciales (ABA), Manuel López Valdez, en la ciudad de Santo Domingo.
López Valdés, de 75 años, economista de profesión, dirigió el gremio bancario por casi tres décadas, haciendo importantes aportes al desarrollo del sector financiero del país desde el punto de vista técnico, institucional, normativo y de capacitación del capital humano de la banca.
Fue presidente de la Federación Latinoamericana de Bancos (FELABAN) hasta noviembre de 2018 cuando se celebró en Punta Cana la asamblea 52 del organismo, con la presencia de más de 1,800 banqueros de distintos países.
Antes de asumir la presidencia de la ABA, López Valdés fue profesor universitario, alto ejecutivo en la banca privada y previamente había sido funcionario del Banco Central de la República Dominicana (BCRD) y del Banco Agrícola.
Por decisión de sus deudos los oficios fúnebres del Señor López Valdés serán realizados en la estricta intimidad familiar y más adelante informarán a amigos y relacionados sobre la realización de una misa en su memoria.
La Junta Directiva de la ABA expresa sus más profundas condolencias a los familiares de López Valdés, a los empleados del gremio bancario, amigos y relacionados.
