Nike refuerza la cúpula de Jordan. La compañía estadounidense de moda y equipamiento deportivo ha fichado a Craig Williams, un ex ejecutivo de Coca Cola, como consejero delegado de su marca de calzado deportivo Jordan.
El nuevo directivo se incorporará a la empresa el próximo 14 de enero. Williams relevará en el cargo a Larry Miller que, a su vez, se convertirá en el presidente de la nueva junta asesora de Jordan.
Hasta ahora, Craig Williams dirigía la alianza estratégica que mantienen Coca Cola, el mayor fabricante de bebidas del mundo, con la empresa de comida rápida McDonald’s.
Nike incorpora a Craig Williams con el objetivo de darle un impulso a su división de negocio de ‘sneakers’
Con este movimiento, Nike tratará de recuperar posiciones en el mercado de las sneakers en Estados Unidos, donde tiene como competidor a Adidas. Entre enero y agosto de este año, la cuota de mercado mensual de Adidas fue del 11,3%, frente al 9,5% de Jordan, según NPD Group. En el mismo periodo de 2016, la compañía alemana tuvo una cuota del 6,6%, mientras que la estadounidense mantuvo su cifra.
Nike finalizó el pasado ejercicio (cerrado el 31 de mayo de 2018) con unas ventas de 36.397 millones de dólares (31.464 millones de euros). El alza de las ventas por superficie comparable fue del 4% en 2017. La compañía registró un resultado neto de 1.933 millones de dólares (1.671 millones de euros) en 2017, frente a los 4.240 millones de dólares (3.665,3 millones de euros) del año anterior.
