PERÚ – Economax se llamaría el nuevo formato ‘cash & carry’ de Supermercados Peruanos
Este formato mayorista de Supermercados Peruanos se ubicaría primero en Zárate (San Juan de Lurigancho), Cusco, Piura y Sullana.
El nuevo formato ‘cash & carry’ o mayorista que viene probando Supermercados Peruanos -propiedad de InRetail- en algunos de sus locales Plaza Vea, tendría como nombre Economax, un antiguo formato que utilizó en populosos distritos de Lima y el cual tenía un modelo similar a un minimarket.
Cabe precisar que este formato mayorista comenzará a operar a partir del cuarto trimestre del 2018 en el mercado peruano y se ubicaría primero en Zárate (San Juan de Lurigancho) y en ciudades del interior del país como Cusco, Piura y Sullana, según Semana Económica.
En el segundo trimestre se cerraron temporalmente tres tiendas Plaza Vea para convertirlas en el formato ‘cash & carry’, indicó Juan Carlos Vallejo, CEO de Intercorp Retail, en el conference call de presentación de resultados del segundo trimestre.

Durante el último conference de InRetail, Juan Carlos Vallejo, CEO de Intercorp Retail, indicó se cerraron temporalmente tres tiendas Plaza Vea para convertirlas en el formato ‘cash & carry’. Actualmente, la compañía se encuentra en proceso de construir un nuevo local de 4 mil metros cuadrados, el cual abrirá antes de fin de año.
De acuerdo al ejecutivo, el nuevo formato mayorista de InRetail se enfocará principalmente en clientes de restaurantes, hoteles, y catering, compitiendo directamente con la cadena supermayorista holandesa Makro y la firma local Corporación Vega.
“Estamos invirtiendo alrededor de 30 millones de soles para construir e implementar las nuevas tiendas ‘cash & carry’. En la conversión de las tiendas Plaza Vea en el nuevo formato se gastó aproximadamente entre 15 millones a 18 millones de soles. En los próximos años, se realizará una significante inversión para crecer con este formato en el sector horeca”, enfatizó Vallejo.
