La pasión por deleitar platillos inusuales, conocer restaurantes de tendencia y disfrutar del buen comer y beber, son algunas de las razones por las que American Express creó “Amex for Foodies”, un programa que invita a los clientes a vivir las mejores experiencias en gastronomía bajo el lema Porque los mejores momentos se comparten alrededor de una mesa. Además, con apoyo de la agencia de investigación Voices, realizó el estudio Ser foodie en América Latina, que tiene como objetivo dar a conocer hábitos de los foodies, nombre que reciben las personas que tienen pasión y placer por la comida.

Para la recopilación de la información, se realizaron encuestas online a foodies de seis países, de edades entre 25 y 55 años. El estudio enfatiza en comportamientos de consumo gastronómico, así como gustos y preferencias, uso de medios informativos, redes sociales y tendencias.

Publicidad

Los resultados destacan a América Latina como la región con mejor comida y mayor innovación, con el 67%, seguida por Europa Continental y Medio Oriente con el 15% y 7%, respectivamente.

En cada país, el buen comer se asocia con tendencias diferentes, siendo los ingredientes de calidad, 59% y el atractivo visual de los platos, 47%, los aspectos más valorados por los encuestados. Adicionalmente, la innovación en platillos gastronómicos es un aspecto muy valorado en Colombia.

Los foodies en Colombia

Un 59% de los encuestados en Colombia se reconoce por ser amante de la cocina. Se trata de aquellos que disfrutan principalmente de cocinar, foodies cooks; seguidos de un 30% de los conocedores de los procesos e ingredientes de tendencia, foodies nerds; y, un 11%, por los apasionados por salir y conocer nuevos restaurantes, foodies salidores.

Si bien los intereses de los foodies por acceder a actividades gastronómicas son variados, el 53% de los encuestados destacan probar nuevos estilos de comida, seguido de vivir experiencias novedosas, con 29% y descubrir chefs emergentes locales, 9%.

Los atributos clave para definir la comida latina como la mejor del mundo están relacionados con la fusión de sabores e ingredientes, 55%; el uso de condimentos y sabores únicos de la región, 54%; las tradiciones de las localidades, 51%.
En lo que respecta a las principales tendencias gastronómicas del momento, se destacan: comida fusión, 45%; slow food, 29%; efecto sorpresa, 27%. S evidencia un amplio interés por ingredientes como quinua, palta, salmón y chía.

Amor en la gastronomía

Para el 38% de los encuestados en América Latina, la pareja es la principal socia del disfrute de la comida, seguido por los amigos, considerados aliados de aventuras gastronómicas, 28%. 6 de cada 10 foodies tienen un grupo de amigos con los que regularmente se juntan a probar recetas y cocinar en hogares y 5 de cada 10 tiene un grupo con el que se junta a probar nuevos restaurantes.

La pasión foodie se comparte además con otros en las redes sociales, especialmente entre los más jóvenes. 8 de cada foodies se informan de recetas en páginas de recetas y perfiles de los chefs y cocineros. Cuando salen a comer, el 56% de los foodies suele calificar la calidad del servicio y la comida en alguna red social o aplicación.

Para el 91% de los encuestados existe gran interés en asistir a eventos culinarios exclusivos, siendo las tarjetas de servicios financieros, un importante aliado para aquellos que buscan recomendaciones gastronómicas.

“Salir a disfrutar de una buena comida, en excelente compañía forma parte de la cultura latinoamericana, por esta razón American Express ofrece experiencias únicas que permitan acceder a la diversidad gastronómica por medio de una amplia propuesta de eventos culinarios exclusivos para nuestros clientes en toda la región, como Amex for foodies”, expresó Lisandro Delfino, vicepresidente y gerente general de Alianzas con Bancos en América Latina de American Express.
