Supply Chain: El músculo logístico de Falabella, 30 almacenes para más de un millón de metros cuadrados

El grupo chileno de tiendas por departamento, inmerso en un fuerte desarrollo de su estrategia omnicanal, concentra el grueso de sus centros de distribución en Chile y Perú.
Mejorar los tiempos de entrega en un territorio con dificultades logísticas ha sido uno de los grandes desafíos que se ha planteado Falabella para los próximos años. La compañía, que ha salido a la compra de nuevas licencias, entre ellas un el pure player Linio, busca hacer frente a gigantes como Amazon o empresas de última milla como Cornershop, que ganan cada vez más terreno en el mercado chileno.
Actualmente, Falabella cuenta con treinta centros de distribución en todos los mercados en los que está presente, aunque la mayoría de ellos se encuentran en Chile. El grupo de tiendas por departamento cuenta con 1.298.500 metros cuadrados de superficie logística repartidos entre Perú, Colombia, Argentina, Brasil, Uruguay, México y en su mercado local.
A finales de 2018, Falabella puso en marcha un centro de distribución de 47.000 metros cuadrados de superficie en Chile, en los que el grupo invirtió cien millones de dólares. El almacén le permite a la compañía recopilar ocho millones de artículos y mejorar sus tiempos de entrega con treinta veces más capacidad de empaque y envío de pedidos.
Falabella opera con 14 centros logísticos en Chile, seis en Perú, tres en Colombia y Argentina, dos en Brasil, uno en Uruguay y otro en México
En su mercado local, Falabella cuenta con catorce centros de distribución, con una superficie total de 766.000 metros cuadrados. El segundo mercado donde la compañía chilena concentra el mayor número de almacenes es Perú, donde cuenta con seis naves y 239.000 metros cuadrados.
En Colombia y Argentina, Falabella cuenta con tres centros logísticos, mientras que en Brasil, mercado en el que opera sólo con su cadena de tienda de mejoramiento para el hogar, suma sólo dos almacenes. La compañía también cuenta con estructura en Uruguay y México, con una nave en cada país de 9.500 y 18.000 metros cuadrados, respectivamente.
“Vemos a la logística como un motor muy importante de nuestra propuesta de valor”, aseguró Gastón Bottazzini, gerente general de Falabella en la presentación anual a inversionistas. En este sentido, la compañía ha centrado sus esfuerzos principalmente en Chile, tras la llegada de fuertes competidos de ecommerce como Amazon o el crecimiento de plataformas como Cornershop.

El pasado junio, Falabella anunció el lanzamiento de una aplicación móvil de última milla, que implementará primero con sus supermercados Tottus y que en una segunda fase estará disponible para el resto de las cadenas del hólding.
Más de 100.000 puestos de trabajo
A cierre del ejercicio 2018, Falabella contaba con una plantilla de 113.526 empleados, no sólo en los mercados en los que está presente con tiendas, sino también en Chinda e India, donde cuenta con colaboradores que dan soporte al canal online. El grupo da empleo a 157 trabajadores en China y otros 85 en India.
Además, en los cuarteles generales de Falabella y en sus tiendas en Chile el grupo cuenta con una plantilla de 54.472 personas. En Perú, en cambio, la compañía da empleo a 31.046 trabajadores, mientras que en Colombia son 16.640 empleados los que dan servicio a la compañía chilena. Brasil, Uruguay y México copan menos del 2% de la plantilla total de la empresa, mientras que en Argentina la empresa da empleo a 5.610 trabajadores.
