Tejidos Royo crece al calor del Dry Indigo y alcanza 55 millones en 2019
Tejidos Royo crece aupada por el denim eco. La compañía, con sede en Picassent (Valencia), ha cerrado el último ejercicio con una facturación de 55 millones de euros, según ha explicado José Royo, consejero delegado de la empresa y miembro de la familia fundadora, a Modaes.es.
En torno a un 20% de la facturación de la empresa procede ya de Dry Indigo, la nueva marca que el grupo lanzó el año pasado y que emplean marcas como Banana Republic, propiedad del gigante Gap.
Esta tecnología, desarrollada junto con Gaston Systems e Indigo Mill Designs, permite tintar el hilo de índigo sin utilizar agua, con un 89% menos de químicos y un 65% menos de energía. Pese a la buena recepción del lanzamiento, la compañía entró en pérdidas en el último ejercicio (finalizado en julio) pero preveía regresar a números negros este año.
Sin embargo, la crisis del coronavirus ha trastocado todas las estimaciones. “Por ahora no nos ha afectado ni para bien ni para mal, salvo que hemos limitado los viajes”, apunta Royo. “China ya está empezando a abrirse”, apunta el empresario.
Tejidos Royo ha invertido dos millones de euros en los últimos dos años
Para este año, la compañía ultima el lanzamiento de Dry Black, que emplea la misma tecnología que Dry Indigo para para tintura en negro. El proceso gana complejidad por la propia conductividad del color. Por la relación histórica con la empresa, Banana Republic será también la primera firma en probarlo.
Después de años de intensa inversión (sólo entre 2016 y 2018 la compañía destinó cinco millones de euros), la empresa se está centrando ahora en mejorar su eficiencia e invertir en “personas e investigación”. En los últimos dos años, la compañía ha invertido dos millones de euros, incluyendo el capital destinado a la renovación de todos sus telares.
La compañía mantiene sus oficinas centrales, la tejeduría y los acabados en Picassent, así como otra fábrica en la localidad de Alcudia, donde se fundó el grupo en 1903. En total, la empresa emplea a 350 personas.
