Avon avanza en su reestructuración. La compañía estadounidense especializada en cosmética y perfumería ejecutará otro recorte de plantilla que afectará a 2.300 trabajadores, el 10% del total. Se trata de la segunda vez que el grupo reduce personal después de que el año pasado despidiera al 8% de sus empleados.
En el recorte anunciado ahora, Avon estima ahorrar hasta 97 millones de dólares (84,7 millones de euros) a finales de 2019. La empresa también ha comunicado que recortará un 15% su inventario.
El grupo se encuentra inmerso desde hace varios años en un proceso de reestructuración para regresar a la rentabilidad y apuntalar el crecimiento. Hace un año, la empresa fichó al hasta entonces responsable de Unilever en Europa, Jan Zijderveld, como consejero delegado, para acelerar en esta transformación.
La compañía cerró los nueve primeros meses del ejercicio con un beneficio neto de 55,7 millones de dólares (49,15 millones de dólares) y contrajo un 3% sus ventas, hasta 3.924,7 millones de dólares (3.463,3 millones de euros).
En las últimas semanas, Avon ha vendido su fábrica en China por 44 millones de dólares y ha colocado a un nuevo director financiero, Gustavo Arnal, procedente de Procter&Gamble.
