Iconix Brands ficha un ex Nine West como consejero delegado para darle la vuelta al negocio
Iconix Brands ficha un nuevo comandante para virar el rumbo de sus resultados. El grupo estadounidense, propietario de marcas como Umbro, Ecko o Zoo York, ha nombrado a Robert Galvin como consejero delegado. El directivo cuenta con treinta años de trayectoria liderando marcas como Nine West, Elie Tahari, Sports Brands International o Cheerokee.
El ascenso de Galvin supuso también el nombramiento de Peter Cuneo, que desempeñaba el cargo de consejero delegado interino, como presidente de consejo de Iconix Brands, según WWD. Galvin ejercerá también como director y presidente de la compañía.
Iconix Brands no atraviesa su mejor momento financiero. El grupo acumula una deuda de 717,6 millones de dólares, lo que equivale a ocho veces su resultado bruto de explotación (ebitda) anual.
La compañía estadounidense es propietaria de una treintena de marcas, que clasifica en tres categorías. Las enseñas de moda como Umbro o Lee Cooper están en la de Drivers, junto a otras con oportunidades de crecimiento. A principios del año pasado, Iconix Brands se desprendió de su negocio de electrónica de consumo por cien millones de dólares.
