Inditex se hace fuerte en Estados Unidos. El grupo ha abierto su tienda número cien en el mercado norteamericano, donde tradicionalmente ha tenido una presencia comedida en relación al tamaño y relevancia del país. El establecimiento con el que la empresa ha batido la barrera del centenar de puntos de venta es de Zara y subió la persiana en Denver (Colorado) el pasado catorce de noviembre.
Inditex está presente en estados Unidos con sus cadenas Zara y Massimo Dutti. Además, el año pasado, la compañía dio un paso más en el país con la apert. La compañía opera con establecimientos de su cadena Zara y Massimo Dutti, además de un pop up store de Bershka en Nueva York el año pasado. En paralelo, la cadena de moda joven de Inditex distribuye sus productos en su plataforma online en el país. La empresa también tiene presencia online en el país con su cadena de hogar Zara Home.

Estados Unidos, el mayor mercado del mundo para el negocio de la moda, se ha convertido en una pieza estratégica del crecimiento de Inditex y figura, trimestre tras trimestre, entre los países donde más tiendas abre el grupo.
En 1989, algo más de dos décadas después de su fundación, la compañía instaló en Nueva York (en concreto en Lexington Avenue) su segunda tienda internacional, sólo después de la de Portugal, puesta en marcha en 1988.
Hasta hace cinco años, Zara era la única cadena del grupo presente en Estados Unidos. De las 81 tiendas de la cadena estrella del grupo en el país, nueve de ellas están ubicadas en Nueva York. La última gran apertura tuvo lugar en 2012, cuando se instaló en el número 666 de la Quinta Avenida.
Ese mismo año Massimo Dutti entró en el país con un local en la esquina de la Quinta Avenida con la calle 54 que había dejado libre Zara. La cadena estrenó en paralelo su plataforma online para el mercado estadounidense.
El grupo gallego finalizó este periodo con un aumento del 4% en su resultado neto hasta 2.438 millones de euros. La compañía cerró los nueve primeros meses del ejercicio (entre febrero y octubre) con una cifra de negocio de 18.437 millones de euros, un 3% más que en el mismo periodo de 2017. Las ventas a tipo de cambio constante aumentaron un 7%. La divisa lastró las ventas durante el periodo en un 4,3%.
